Biking at Maybury

I went biking today with Joe at Maybury - probably one of the last great days to do so this year. The weather was perfect, almost 70, and the colors were breathtaing. It just smelled like Fall out there, without the crisp cool air. The sun shone on the leaves and the trees in a way I'll never forget. We stopped 5 or 6 times just to admire the scenery out there. Throughout much of the trail, the leaves were this golden color, covering the entire forest floor. At points the leaves were so deep you couldn't see where the trail (or stumps or roots for that matter) was going. It was a pretty casual ride, only about 6 miles, with a lot of talking as we rode, with moments of great speed in between.
It was such a great day that I took off work early and we packed the kids up after school and headed back to Maybury. We brought Riley and she was able to run in the fields and have a blast. We headed into the woods, covered in golden brown leaves and ran around for a while.

Nate caught was pretty excited about the Gardner snake he caught. He carried it around most of the time we were in the woods before letting it go at the end. I posted all of the pictures here. In some of these conditions with funky lighting I wish I had a digital SLR.
