I laid down Nate and Maddie tonight at bedtime, I went through the story with each of them of the woman caught in adultry found in John 8:1-11 (Suprisingly, even though my kids go to Crossroads, they don't know what Adultry is. I explained it as one person being in love with someone other than the one they're married to). We got to the end of the story, and I asked them each what they thought Jesus would say to the woman, having never heard it before. The reason this was a big deal is because I think what you believe Jesus would say to that woman speaks volumes about what you believe Jesus says to you in your sin. I was really proud to hear each of them on their own say that they thought Jesus would tell the woman that he loves her, forgives her, but doesn't want her to do it again. Bingo. We've got an amazing children's ministry at our church that I'm constantly amazed at how they're able to reinforce what we teach our kids at home. Not only do the people who lead it model who Jesus is and how he treats others, but they have amazing ways to teach the kids beyond just lectures and flannel-graphs.

Big ben... Great to hear from you... I stumbled across your myspace... or you stumbled across mine. Next time your back in town let's grab a cup of coffee or breakfast and catch up. I love blue like jazz, or at least how it made me think... i'm spellbound by his latest book searching for god knows what. The shoeless thing made me smile thinking back to you 8 years ago not wearing shoes to where you're at now.
