Ever since my gal
Ingrid started sending her strange little love notes my way, I've been getting a daily laugh out of her blog. It's basically a place where she takes a fact or two of out context, applies her own hatred to it and then allows readers to post comments that support her world view. Reading through it, I started compiling a list of everyone she hates based on the views she states in her posts. So far:
- Catholics
- Jews
- Non-Whites
- Willow Creek and Saddleback Churches
- Brian McClaren, Rick Warren, etc.
- Muslims
- Hindus
- Emergents
- Charismatics
- Fun
- Me
- Joe
That seems like a lot for one woman to carry on her shoulders. She's built up quite a cult following to help her carry the weight. She likens her leadership to and clensing of the church to Hilter's clensing of the world - probably not a healthy way to exist - but hey, that's just my opinion. Ingrid is also tied to a group called
Lighthouse Trails Research, which the best I can tell, hates even more things than Ingrid does. It's not a white supremecist group - they seem to hate white people as well. I feel bad for the lady and that one day, she'll have to answer for her devisiveness and hatred. She gets paid to do it, so I guess some people will do a lot in order to keep getting a paycheck. Ultimately, I feel sad for her and the sad state-of-mind she lives in. I'll give 10 to 1 odds that she homeschools.*
*No offense to my friends that homeschool (Mike/Sarah/Noel, etc). You know as well as I how many Christian fringe whack jobs home school. I'd think you'd agree that this is a pretty safe bet.

Dave, thanks for posting a photo of Ingrid. I like to have a person's face in my mind while I'm praying for them.
why do you you hate her? Shouldn't you get the mote out of your eye, before pointing out the splinter in hers? I thought your favorite verse was "judge not, lest ye be judged"? I guess that only applies when you are the one being judged....then it applies to the other guy! Isn't that hypocritical? And didn't Jesus speak of that very thing in Matthew 12, whereby He was being judged by the Pharisees. Stop the fighting and arguing....this is just exactly what Satan loves....you are playing right into his hands...remove yourself from this....and speak the truth IN LOVE. Repent of this. It is not seemly for a Christian brother to behave this way toward a Christian sister. What? Are you going to argue and fight with each other in line before the Lord as He judges each of you?? Stop it! Is this how Jesus would behave? Is this what His great commission is to us, to fight like two cats in a sack? Stop it! Grow up and walk the narrow road back to Jesus and ask forgiveness....write Ingrid a sincere apology, and be the one to take the high road. This will be a better example to those who are watching you, observing whether or not your words and actions are in snyc. This will prove you are producing good fruit. "Rejoice in the Lord alway;and again, I say, rejoice. Let your moderation be know unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:4,5,and 8.
Thanks for your note. I don't hate Ingrid. I hate what she espouses on her web site and the way she manipulates others into her brand of hatred. I'm not going to pull an Ingrid and tell everyone that she's the anti-christ, but I think she's very divisive. I feel sorry for her, but I don't hate her. Maybe in the way I'm trying to help others see through her twisted logic, I'm ending up no better than her. If so, I'm open to hearing that. If you're one of Ingrid's followers, I ask you to talk to her and ask her the same. I hope she stops the hatred and repents of what she's doing. At the very least, I'm letting dissenting opionions post on my blog, something Ingrid can't claim. (BTW, it was Joe who used the "judge not" line when Ingrid called to yell at him, not me)
to the anonymous post. first, why the anonymity?? if you believe n dialogue wouldn't you acctually desire to persuae those who you wich to change through honest dialogue? or is a hit and run enough to allow you to look yourself in the mirror in the morning?
second... dave is more than honest to allow anyone to comment; agree or disagree. the fact that on dear Ingrid's blog, she has refused mine and other's personal comments to defend and clear up misquotes and understandings that were publically posted.
if you actually read this (which i cannot believe that you will be done checking in on one of your list of heretics, so i trust that you will read this and tattle to your leaders of the hateful pursecution you are receiving for being the only true Christians) know that i truly believe her site to be legally guilty of slander, which last i checked seems to be listed under the catagory of sin. but if you can rearrage the facts enough to feel no conviction about this maybe you have more in common than you think with the postmodernists.
feel free to email me (as this is called open communication)

i'm glad i came from a much more 'normal' homeschooling family.
and thanks for allowing disagreeing comments to be posted, unlike her. :)
Dave,
Pssst...you're looking like a hypocrite with this post. If it's so wrong to be hateful, then why are you doing it? Either it's okay or it's not. If Ingrid is wrong, set an example of what love and tolerance look like, right? You are supposedly full of the love of Jesus. I don't feel the love in this post....
Hey,
Is this the guy from the church where people eat doo doo out of diapers? Or pretend doo doo, at least?
Gee, that's cool. I want to be just like you Christians. :-)(Now you know why I'm a pagan...)
it's funny you anonymous people keep pointing out the pharisees in defense of ingrid. i went back to that matthew 12 passage you pointed too. i noticed it was the pharisees that kept pointing out, "hey, you're doing this whole faith thing the wrong way...that's not how you act on church days." hmm...sounds familiar. dave's been called the anti-christ...sounds similar to Jesus being called satan. no, i'm not trying to compare dave to Jesus...i know him better than that. instead, you seem more like the pharisees than he does.
also, dave tried to stop the fighting and arguing. notice his post about removing the comments about ingrid. here's the problem...it was after that that ingrid wrote another article saying dave was embarassed and offended and continued to bash his character. well, i think that's what he's standing up for now. i read much more hate in any one of ingrid's posts. no hope or love for the church in america...evidentally we've screwed everything up.
JuJu, I've been wondering the same thing - where I cross the line and become no better than her. Reading through my post, it doesn't come across to me as mean, more tounge-in-cheek and sad for her. I appreciate your comment and challange.
It's just this type of self-glorifying, I'm-right-you're-wrong divisiveness that pushed me from the church years ago. I’ll let you fight out who is more pious, but it seems to me far worse to spit hate only to hide behind accusations of hypocrisy than to defend one's self and religion from an inaccurate and damaging direct attack. What is this really about? A melted Snickers bar? Are you kidding me? What type of exclusive "club" have you created that such ridiculousness can result in mean-spirited castigation. Certainly not one with the goal of increasing membership.
Kirk - I agree. I took down all of the original posts on this stuff because I was embaressed about it, for this reason exactly. All of this inward focused debate doesn't make the world a better place, in the end doesn't matter and ultimatly is nothing that Jesus would waste time on. I'm trying to figure out where I draw the line at just ignoring the slanderous crap that Ingrid puts out there and where I need to defend myself.
Plus, everyone knows that a melted chocolate bar is classic comedy. You're merely exposing the youngsters to the brilliance of Caddyshack.
"Big hitter, the Lama". Agreed - Amazing movie.
Kirk - This type of conversation around something so trivial is dumb and distracting, but I hope it doesn't continue to turn you off towards Church or God. Both are much bigger and better than me and all of this bickering. You may or may not see from my blog a person beyond just someone who focuses a few minutes of his day on a dumb dialogue around defending a game I played with the kids in my youth group. I love these kids and love having fun with them, whether it's playing a gross game, a video game or hanging out and talking about their lives. People may disagree with what kind of games are appropriate for kids to play in a youth group and how a youth group should be run, but people on both sides of this conversation agree that middle school kids matter to God.
Your response is appreciated. I should clarify though, I WAS pushed away from Christianity for a while (in part) because of overbearing "Christian" influences in my life. Things are pretty good now, better than they've ever been really. Small world, but your brother-in-law is partly to blame for giving me a good church referral.
Brother-in-law... Ed or Kevin?
Dave: Mark 1:30-32...But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. and he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
He is able today as much as He was then to provide all our needs, even healing, or rasing from the dead. Our part is to remain faithful when we must walk on faith alone, and not on the perfomance of miracles.
I pray His will be done, and that you are able to see with clarity the love He has for you, even in times of sorrow and crisis. God be with you.
Kevin. We went to the same high school, but hadn't seen each other for probably 10 years. By the way, my first post wasn't directed at you. I largely agree with what you've said and done so far.
All day yesterday I could not help thinking how much of a benifet it would be for Ingrid to meet with those she is so against. Rick Warren, Bill Hybel and you. Upon meeting you I think she would find men who love the Lord and seek to follow the Spirit. Christ did unconventional things. It is not about the how we reach out as much as it is ARE WE reaching out to the lost. Saddleback and Willow Creek are churches that HAVE added to the Kingdom and many lives have been changed and saved as a result of their obedience to the Spirit. And that is what really matters.
Side note: While playing hideous youth group games did not save me it led me to the One who did. Because my God is that cool and can use all sort of things to add people to his Kingdom. Red jello anyone?
Sarah, that Jello was made from the same kool-aid that jim jones used. It actually was the jello that lead you to Jesus.
Wow. That was 15 years ago we did that stuff, wasn't it? Now you're married with kids. Amazing.
dave, I guess it isn't true that you let everyone express their opinions here, "unlike Ingrid"....two days ago I responded, kindly, to Ken....and it hasn't appeared...hmmmm? why so? was it something I said??
Ken - Not really sure. Did you type in the image/word verification at the bottom of the comment input section? It won't post the comment without it. This is to avoid comment spam.
Hey some good came from her site, I found your blog and added it to the rotation of blogs I'll check out regularly :)
I've been reading the SOL site trying to figure the readers/writers out, it's a group I don't really get and am trying my best to, a little practice I have to help me to not be shocked when I face viewpoints/opinions in ever day face-to-face life.
Also, thanks for the disclaimer. I was homeschooled and we wheren't whacked-out in the slightest, but they do exist out there...
Kevin - the SOL is some weird stuff.... Reading it has provided some interesting entertainment, still don't get Ingrid, but it's sure some interesting stuff.
