Thanks for sharing your stories! My dad directed me to your blog. Readng your story of your mom reminds me of the first time that I met her. I am one of your cousins, and I met your mom at my Grandma Kurt's house on the farm in Bellevue when your mom was dating your dad. I was relatively young, and asked her where she lived. She responded that she lived in a tree in Grandpa Kurt's cornfield. This seemed believable to me until I asked her WHERE in the field the tree was located. She responded, "In the MIDDLE of the field!" Well, as any half-intelligent Iowa child knows well, trees are only allowed to grow on the EDGE of a field and would NEVER be growing in the MIDDLE of the field. It wasn't until that moment that I realized she was kidding!
I am sincerely sorry that you lost your mom to cancer (and through such a painful illness), and you have my deepest sympathy.
