Oh Christmas Tree...

Last week we had a chance to put up our Christmas Tree. It wasn't the prettiest Christmas Tree you've ever seen, but Cathie made it work. We went to a different place this year and in order to make it work with our christmas tree stand, I had to drill a hole in the bottom. The tree was straight, but the hole was too big, so it leaned a little. Cathie took some scissors to the tree and trimmed it up so it was in some semblance of a Christmas Tree shape, and we set off decorating.

It was a lot of fun watching the kids decorate the tree. They'd go through each of their ornaments and remember who got them for them and when they'd made it. I had a few ornaments that I made back in pre-school and they got a good laugh out of those well-crafted pieces of art. My Mom had gotten me a bunch of ornaments over the years which I thought were a little silly at the time, they now mean a ton to me. The Pièce de résistance
of the whole thing were the ornaments that my brother Jon made me ten years ago. They were part of our home made gift making thing and he decorated them ten minutes before he gave them to us, labeling them with different christmases "First Christmas, Second Christmas, etc" in Jon's cryptic handwriting. They are the ugliest things you'd ever want to see, but they make me laugh every time we pull them out at Christmas time.
