I think this picture encapsulates Emily's personality pretty well. While I was broiling the water to par-broil brats for dinner, Emily and I were making her birthday cupcakes. We'd just added the last ingredient when I reached over for the brats to throw them in the boiling water when Emily explained (she was dead serious), "Dad, don't mix those in. I really don't want Brat flavored cupcakes."
Earlier in the day her and I had been talking about the fact that we're celebrating her birthday tomorrow with some of the family, with her friends on another day, and then another part of the family later on in April. Her next question, "Will I be 5, and then 6, and then 7 after three parties?"
