Every couple of weeks Nate and I make a new mix CD for him to listen to. They're typically a pretty broad range of stuff like Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, Live, etc. At bed time, we'll go through the different songs and talk about the stories behind them (ie Pride/U2 - About MLK and Jesus) and discuss which songs he likes and which ones he doesn't. He's come to some pretty clear conclusions, including the fact that he'll be happy if he never hears another Bob Dylan song and lately that he like the heavier stuff like Metallica, The Ramones and other eclectic stuff I've given him. No true hard rock experience is complete without Led Zeppelin, which I'd never gotten around to ripping to MP3's for him. I've got their stuff in vinyl, tape and CD and now in MP3. I hadn't gone back and listened to Zeppelin much beyond the radio in years. Growing up, I knew every track, every word and the background on every tune to the point that I'd gotten pretty sick of them. I just started listening to them again and I'm remembering how much I like their stuff.
