Morning Workout

Kirk took us through a crazy regiment of plyometric jumping stuff this morning, but with a twist. He got a new piece of equipment - nothing fancy - a standing high jump bar. At the end of doing a long string of low-jumping hurdles, he had this thing setup at about 2.5 feet to jump over from a standing position. No big deal.

Things got interesting when we decided to put a little skin in the game. At the end of the workout, we setup a competition where one person would set the bar as high as they thought they could jump. If that person made it over and no one else could, every else did push-ups. If the person couldn't make their own height, they did them. We got this thing up about four feet high. The psychology of this thing was the more interesting part. If you stood in front of it and stared at it, you'd completely psych yourself out and walk away, pretty sure you couldn't do it. When everyone just walked right up to it and jumped, they made it. I couldn't believe how high we got this thing and were still able to jump over it at the end of the day. I never missed, but somehow I ended up doing push-ups anyways. That's the way Kirk rolls.
