My friend Noel's birthday is tomorrow. Here are some fun facts about Noel.
- His name spelled in either direction is still a name.
- Noel changes his birthday each year, just to be tricky.
- You are not the first person to figure out that his name can be pronounced like a Christmas carol.
- I met Noel about 12 years ago when our mutual friend Mike introduced us at a four day Emmaus Walk retreat. We were the only guys there under the age of 50 and we had an escape planned (Mike had taken my car) until God thumped us both between the eyes on Saturday.
- Noel used to be a youth pastor before he became a Super-Mega-Church Pastor. He's great with high school kids, junior high is one of the few groups of people that Noel is awkward around.
- The world of pastoring is treating Noel very, very well. He is building a new house.
- Noel used to work at Michigan Family Forum as a sound engineer over on Hillsdale ave in Lansing. The street his office was on was littered with hookers. James Dobson would not have been happy.
- Noel is one of the few white guys I know that can dance.
- Noel hates Budweiser in a can, but you'd never know from all the pictures he takes with beer.
- Noel, Will Brown, Brad Jeffrey, Bill Belanger and I all went on a life changing retreat out in Colorado about 5 years ago.
- Noel kids are the best dressed kids in home-school. His wife Grace is the only Mom in the home school community who does not wear a jean jumper.
- Noel has never yelled the N word in front of a large crowd at church just because someone was talking during his "act".
- Noel was one of the pallbearers at my Mom's funeral.

Now that I see his name written I get that it is "NOEL". I always assumed that his name was "NOE" and he was adamant that his name had "No L" in it.
no jean jumpers?! haha. i am so so glad my mom never owned a jean jumper.
